What is Computer Recognition Security?
Computer Recognition Security is Oceanside Bank's current solution to what regulators describe as "multi-factor authentication"—a security enhanced requirement for all financial institutions to follow that was issued by the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council. It will add an extra layer of security to your Online Banking. This extra layer of security is free, easy to set up and does not require you to download any software.

Why should I take the extra step to further protect my accounts online?
As does any well-prepared financial institution, Oceanside Bank has numerous systems and processes in place to protect you and your account information. To maintain our high level of security and service to our customers, we ask that you participate with us in another layer of security designed to protect you and your account information. We think this extra step will help you further prevent fraudsters from impersonating legitimate users with the intent to steal your identity, account information and even the funds in your accounts.

How does Computer Recognition Security work?
To protect unauthorized access to your Oceanside Bank accounts from a computer, Computer Recognition Security will recognize the computer you are working from every time you log-in to Online Banking. It is easy to set up and takes very little time. You can add Computer Recognition Security to as many computers as you like—there's no charge. Once you set up Computer Recognition Security on a computer, it is virtually invisible. You won't have to do anything else. Next time you log-in to Online Banking, simply enter your Log-in ID and Password as you have in the past and you're in.

What happens when Computer Recognition Security is activated?
Your Oceanside Bank website will look the same as it does today. Go to www.oceansidebank.com and log-in to Online Banking with your Log-in ID and Password—this has not changed. After Computer Recognition Security is activated, the first time you log-in from your computer, you will be asked to enroll in Oceanside Bank's new security service. Just select "Yes" and continue. (A demo is available on Oceanside Bank's homepage at www.oceansidebank.com.)

How does the Computer Recognition Security system let me into Online Banking if I’m not on a computer it recognizes?
During the enrollment process you will select questions and provide answers as validation information. Your confidential “Questions and Answers” is used as an extra security feature to validate your identity. If the computer you are logging in from is not recognized as one you typically use, you will then be presented with the validation questions after entering your user ID and password. Simply enter the answers and you’re in. Only you know what your questions and answers are – it’s extra protection from fraud and identity theft.

I've set up Computer Recognition Security at home—what happens when I use another computer?
The purpose of Computer Recognition Security is to further protect your Online Banking accounts from unauthorized access. When you use an un-enrolled computer, you will be required to answer your pre-set security challenge questions. You can choose to enroll and add any computer to your list of recognized computers or, you can determine not to enroll the computer. This simply means the un-enrolled computer will prompt you for security challenge questions and answers the next time you log-in to your Online Banking accounts from the un-enrolled computer.
We suggest you add Computer Recognition Security to computers you frequently use. It may not, however, be necessary to enroll those computers you seldom use or that are located in public places, like at a library or your office. If a computer is not enrolled, anyone who attempts to log-in to your Online Banking accounts from that computer will be required to not only provide your confidential User ID and Password but also your confidential challenge questions and answers. You can see how helpful the extra layer of security can be.

What if I don't remember my three Challenge Questions and Answers?
That's not a problem. Log-in to Online Banking like you normally do, go to "USER OPTIONS" and then select "Challenge Question Setup." This will enable you to reset your three questions and answers. You can do this at any time. Never reveal your questions and answers or any other confidential information about yourself or your accounts to anyone.

Do I have flexibility in the computers I want protected by Computer Recognition Security?
Yes. You can add or remove any computer at any time through the Online Banking "USER OPTIONS" feature at the top of your Online Banking screen. You may register on as many computers as you like. We strongly discourage your setting up the security system on public computers such as those found at the library, school, or other public computers.

Why is Oceanside Bank doing this?
All financial institutions are required to make additional security enhancements available as dictated by the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council. The security enhancements will not look the same at every financial institution.
We hope you are taking full advantage of all the online services Oceanside Bank has to offer. By continuing to enhance security, products and services, we will continue to provide you with a comprehensive website and online banking product that we hope will satisfy your specific financial needs.
